A Note from the Author

Hey, it’s John!

I’m the original developer of the Slack plugin for Prism-Pipeline. Version 1 was wrapped up around September 2024, and Version 2 followed shortly after in December. Since then, it’s gone through several refactors. About 90% of which I tackled in my free time simply because I enjoyed building it. The public release was the result of all that work.

During development, though, I got a little ahead of myself and built a lot of extra features the studio it was built for didn’t actually need. Those were removed long before the initial public release, but I always hoped I’d get the chance to keep exploring those ideas on my own. Thankfully, I got the green light.

Now that FRAKTL has launched, we have brought the plugin back under my, now our, wing. We will continue to maintain and expand it for anyone who finds it useful. The open-source version will continue on as the Community Edition: free, transparent, and available on GitHub. The new features we’ve been working on will be released in the Studio Edition, a paid version designed for teams that want more flexibility, or integration options.

Don’t worry I’m not abandoning the Community Edition! Features from the Studio Edition will continue to trickle down over time so the community still benefits and grows.

I know some folks might be disappointed that we are charging for the Studio Edition, but this helps give us the financial breathing room to keep improving the plugin, offer support, and build the kinds of integrations people have been asking for. Anyone with an active subscription will receive all updates released during their subscription period. We hope it’s at an affordable rate for all as well!

Thank you all for your continued support, it genuinely means the world.
